Pra + ho is a Portmanteau of the first few letters of the names of Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, widely regarded as the father of statistics in India and Dr. Homi Bhabha, considered the father of the Indian nuclear program.  With no obvious professional intersections, they found themselves in an epic race to kickstart India’s tryst with computing. Mahalanobis developed India’s first analogue electronic computer in 1953 with parts scoured from junkyards and war surplus depots. Dr. Bhabha topped it up with a full-scale digital computer in 1959, which was commissioned for routine work in early 1960.
